Lynn Kuo
Founding Director
Lynn has worked in education for over 45 years and is the founder of Woodland Hills Private School. After earning her MS in Early Childhood Education from SUNY in New York, she moved to Los Angeles with her husband and began looking for the kind of school she wanted for her own young children.
Lynn envisioned a school that would draw from the best of educational research rather than follow a single philosophy or approach. She wanted children to be known as individuals, with learning responsive to their strengths and development, while also benefiting from the collaboration, relationships, and exploration that happen in a strong school community.
That vision led Lynn to open what is now the Collins Campus. As families embraced the school, WHPS continued to grow, adding its elementary program in 1990 and expanding to the Oxnard Street Campus in 2000. More than four decades later, Lynn's grandchildren are now WHPS students themselves, bringing her family's connection to the school full circle while the vision that started it all continues to shape WHPS today.
